When selecting your wedding photographer, be sure to consider the following:
1. Begin your research with referrals and venue preferred vendors. Visit their websites. Do the images appeal to you? Are the websites current?
2. Read reviews about the vendor. Sites like weddingwire.com, wedding.com are a great places to start.
3. View their work in person. Websites are a great place to start but be sure to see the quality of finished images as well. Be sure to view complete wedding albums to see what a typical day looks like. Photography is like your wedding gown - best seen in person.
4. Verify the work you are viewing is your photographers. Larger studios have multiple photographers; make sure yours matches the style you are looking for.
5. Meet your Photographer(s). Make sure you feel comfortable with them; you spend more time with your photographers than any other vendor.
6. See if your photographer will help with your timeline. We plan the day with our couples to allow time for the type of photographs they would like to have taken. This allows them to enjoy their wedding day. We know we can't compete with food and alcohol so we make suggestions.
7. Make sure you have the opportunity to review your album design. An experienced studio will work with you to create your storybook album. They guide you through the process sharing their expertise but accepting input from you.

Faylinn - Lately, I have been looking at wedding photographers online, because I want to get one who can perfectly capture my ceremony and reception that is in October. However, I didn't realize that I should check out a person's work in person. Now that I realize this, I think that I will call up three different photographers and ask to meet them and see their portfolios as well. Then, I will choose the one who produces the best images. http://www.weddingbanquethallmanteca.com/service-areas

Jessie Harrison - A wedding is one of those days that you hope never ends. However, you can always revisit the day through pictures. Which is why a photographer is so important. Your suggestion was perfect about having the photographer help with your timeline.

April Cook - I didn't think to check with the venue to see who their preferred vendors were. this is a smart idea because it means you will get a photographer who is familiar with the setting. I'm helping my cousin plan her wedding, so I will suggest this to her as she starts looking for a photographer. Thanks for all these tips and ideas. They are very helpful!

sean - I like your suggestion to meet your photographers and make sure you feel comfortable with them. Because I am not a photogenic person, I would want a photographer who could make me feel comfortable and relaxed and get the best shots possible. I could have the best photographer in the world, but if I wasn't comfortable with them, I would probably not like my photos, because I would not like the way I look in them. http://www.rob
